Unusual to the base of Anne Of Green Gables series Lucy explores the World War in her novel Rilla of Ingleside.  Anne Shirley's role in this novel is very much limited and revolves around her youngest daughter Rilla in her juvenile age. It is believed that Lucy's original manuscript is edited to comply with the current anti-German sentiment. The author narrates how mischievous Rilla who does not take life seriously, changes herself to become a courageous person to participate in the War.
